Today (10th November) is the World Science Day for Peace and Development (International Week) / World Science Day.

India will launch its latest communication satellite GSAT-15 from Kourou in French Guiana morning.

The Minister of Human Resources Development Smriti Irani Union launched three web / mobile application portals. They are,

e-Pathshala, saaransh and the National Programme on school standards and assessment framework (Shala Siddhi)


  • This is a web portal which hosts educational resources for students, teachers, parents, researchers.
  • This portal contains textbooks and other e-books and E-Pub 3.0 Flipbooks in English, Hindi and Urdu.

Shaala Siddhi:

  • This is a complete tool for school evaluation that allows schools to evaluate their performance in a more targeted and strategic way to facilitate to make professional judgment to continual improvement.
  • As part of the web portal will help schools evaluate themselves and the results can be seen by all to enable them to provide feedback.
  • The initiative has already been successfully tested in four districts of Tamil Nadu.


  • This is a tool that enables schools to identify areas of improvement in students, teachers and programs to facilitate and implement change.
  • The platform is currently available for grades 9 to 12 and provides a comprehensive overview of the performance standard 10th since 2007 and the 12th standard performance since 2009 in academic session.
  • Currently, the results of CBSE are available on this portal / app.

Business & Economy

The $ 273 million Indian government signs loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the Investment Program to improve rural connectivity rural roads in five states.

These five states are Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal

Important points to note:

This loan represents the third tranche, which is also the last tranche of the financing facility of $ 800 million under the rural connectivity Investment Program.

  • The loan will help build more than 6,000 kilometers of rural roads in all weathers in the above five states, benefiting over 4,200 rural dwellings.

The government liberalized foreign direct investment, FDI norms in 15 major sectors of the economy to further stimulate the investment environment and attract foreign investment in the country.

  • These sectors include mining, civil aviation, defense, broadcasting, construction, manufacturing and private sector bank.
  • The reforms aim to further easing, streamline and simplify the FDI process and to present proposals for increasing FDI on the automatic route instead of the road of the government.
  • Note: The most important reform in the construction sector.
