Government of Maharashtra has set up a Cabinet subcommittee to prepare an action plan to fight against the crisis of impending drought.

The government of Greece announced that it had reached the outline of an agreement for an international bailout 85 billion euros ($ 94 billion) to save his stricken economy from collapse.

Indian government announced today that the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) was accredited by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) as an implementing entity for the implementation of projects related to climate change in India.

  • The Green Climate Fund (GCF) was established under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2010 to help developing countries fund clean energy, others mitigation efforts and adaptation to climate change.

The financing agreement for the World Bank (IDA) of 104.00 million US dollars of extra funding under National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project-I (NCRMP-I) was signed between the Government of India and The World Bank today.

  • The additional funding target under NCRMP-I is to reduce the vulnerability of coastal communities to cyclone and other hydrometeorological hazards in Andhra Pradesh and Orissa.
  • It would also provide better access to emergency shelters and evacuation against windstorms, flooding and storm surge in high-risk areas currently not covered by the initial project (NCRMP-I).
  • This project is implemented by the Ministry of the Interior by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

Thermal powertech Corporation India Ltd synchronized the second unit 660 megawatt (MW) of the power plant 1 320 MW with the grid.

The coal plant located in Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh Nellore district signed a power purchase agreement with Andhra Pradesh electric distribution companies for the supply of 500 MW to the central distribution companies of Eastern, Southern and Northern Power for 25 years.

  • First unit of the 660 MW power plant, which was synchronized in December 2014, began commercial operations in February 2015.
  • Note: With the synchronization of its second unit TPCIL is on track to start commercial operations of its total operating capacity of 1,320 MW by the end of September 2015.
