Prime Minister launches Narendra Modi ‘Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramjyoti Yojana (DDUGJY)’ NDA government in Patna.

  • The DDUGJY is one of the flagship programs of the Ministry of Energy.
  • The main objective of this program is to provide an uninterrupted supply of rural house hold across the country by 2022.
  • The estimated cost of the action for the two above items is Rs.43,033 crore which includes the requirement of budget support to Rs.33,453 crore from the Government of India on the whole of the implementation period .Anchor
  • Note: The previous plan for rural electrification know. Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) has been integrated into the new schema as rural electrification component.
  • The main elements of the plan are the power separation; building sub-transmission and distribution system; dosage at all levels (entry points, feeders and distribution transformers); micro-grid and off grid distribution network and rural electrification- already sanctioned RGGVY projects to complete.

The High Level Committee on Shah Applicability Minimum Alternative Tax (MAT) on foreign investor’s subject today is 66 page report to the finance minister Arun Jaitley.

Andhra Bank received the Award of Excellence to ensure first place in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Institute of Rural Self Employment Training (RSETI) movement in the country for the 2013-14 year.

  • The agreement to update the 18-year-old WTO Agreement on Information Technology (ITA) added over 200 products to the list of products subject to zero-tariff and duty-free trade rights.

Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has established three committees to review regulations for life insurance, general insurance and reinsurance, including registration offices overseas reinsurers.

  • The life insurance committee will look at the regulations in areas such as assets, liabilities and the solvency margin and appointed actuary.
  • The General Insurance Committee will examine the regulation in areas such claim provisioning, reinsurance and appointed actuary.
  • The committee will discuss reinsurance matters relating to the registration of branches of foreign reinsurance companies, among others.
