Today is the International Day of the Dog (Dog Day).

Today is World Intellectual Property Day.

  • This day was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to “raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life” and “to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the world.”
  • Important April 26 was chosen as the date for the World Day of Intellectual Property as it coincides with the date on which the Convention establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force in 1970.

  • Of Indian origin diplomat Gopinath Pillai was granted with “Service Excellence Award” for his services to the city state of the National University of Singapore (NUS).

78-year-old Gopinath Pillai, currently Ambassador-at-Large and Special Envoy of Singapore for Andhra Pradesh received the award yesterday.
