Former Chief Justice YK Sabharwal Died

  • The former Chief Justice of India YK Sabharwal died in New Delhi. He was 73. Justice Sabharwal was Chief Justice from 1 November 2005 to 13 January 2007.
  • As a judge of the Supreme Court, the judge Sabharwal delivered several important judgments dealing with constitutional issues, including the verdict in January 2006, which held the dissolution of the Bihar Assembly as illegal and unconstitutional.
  • He also led a river bank monitoring inter-link projects in the country. He was also part of the panel that had canceled the licenses of the fuel pump granted under the discretionary quota of ministers.
  • He has dealt with many cases of corruption and cases concerning unauthorized building in Delhi.

Four Indian Americans honored with Great immigrants Award 2015 United States

  • Four Indian Americans were honored July 4, 2015 with the Great immigrants: The price Pride of America by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
  • They are among the 38 eminent personalities from over 30 countries around the world were honored with the award this year.

240 MW hydropower project Narendra Modi inaugurated Uri-II in J & K

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 240 MW Uri-II hydroelectric project in Jammu and project mountains Kashmir. This Uri-II will be able to generate about 1.124 billion of Hydel-energy units per year from its four units of 60 MW each.
  • The Uri-II is the second energy project on the Jhelum River in Uri and is close to the Line of Control (LoC) in the Baramullah district of the state.
