ICRISAT unveils $ 300 phablet for farmers

  • Farmers can now have personalized advice on their phablet on the type of agricultural inputs, they might need for their field.
  • Based on the health of specific soil their small pieces of land, scientists from the International Institute for Semi-Arid Crops Research Institute (ICRISAT) and the Government of Telangana would send timely messages to farmers across the phablet.
  • ICRISAT Hyderabad headquartered launched the Green phablet at $ 300 (approx Rs. 18,600) for farmers in Telangana. The institute would be to maintain the servers to ensure security of information. And even if a user loses his device, it would be able to get back the information in no time.
  • ICRISAT Director General David Bergvinson signed a tripartite agreement on Tuesday with the ministries of agriculture and information technology to work in the agricultural transformation using digital technologies.
  • Addressing a rally later Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao said there was a need to reduce the device cost to Rs. 10,000 to make it affordable for farmers.

Rajasthan could emulate ‘Jal Yukt Shivar Abhiyan “Maharashtra

  • Impressed by the progress of the state of Maharashtra ‘Jal Yukt Shivar Abhiyan’ Rajashtan may also adopt water conservation flagship of the state and integrated water management plan.
  • To learn more about the conservation program of the water of the state, a delegation from Rajasthan, including a minister and senior officials are touring Maharashtra and will visit some sites where the project is currently underway.
  • “Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan is a Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ambitious program and it has toured almost every neighborhood to visit the project sites,” Pankaja Munde, Minister of Water Conservation said.
  • Meanwhile, after the success of involving people in the scheme, Munde plans to organize a ‘Jalchetana Yatra’ across the state from October 2.

Coastal patrol Durgavati Rani joined the Indian Coast Guard

  • Inshore Patrol Durgavati Rani was inducted into Coast Guard here Friday at a ceremony where the General Officer Commander in Chief of the Naval Command East, Vice Admiral Satish Soni, was the guest of honor.
  • Vice Admiral Soni said coastal security had undergone a sea change after 26/11, and added that all organizations are important partners in the preparation. However, the Coast Guard was the largest in coordination with various agencies. He described Rani Durgavati as “another arrow in the quiver of the Coast Guard.”
  • Rani Durgavati, the third in a series of five coastal patrol vessels of the Coast Guard, is named after the legendary Gond Queen who defeated the army of Baz Bahadur Mughal army.
  • Hindustan Shipyard Ltd who built 174 ships and repaired 2,000 ships across the spectrum, including submarines.

President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated Nakshatra Vatika  

  • President Pranab Mukherjee today inaugurated a “Nakshatra Vatika ‘in the gardens of Rashtrapati Nilayam in Hyderabad, a presidential retreats. He took a tour of the garden and watered a plant that represents “Surya ‘or the Sun God.
  • He was accompanied by the Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ESL Narasimhan and deputy chief Telangana Mohammad Ali, an official release said.
  • The garden will be open to other gardens of the Nilayam in the first week of January 2016. The plot of ‘Nakshatra Vatika’ was developed in various geometric combinations corresponding to the Sree Chakra Vedic astrology on a plot of 0.91 acre.
  • Each square is planted with a tree or a particular plant variety which represents the respective planet and is placed according to astronomically. The first inner circular band is divided into 12 small circles to parts of 30A each corresponding to the 12 Rashi (zodiac sign). Everyone has a plant that represents the sign of the particular zodiac.

The skipper Mithali Raj India complete 5000 runs in ODIs women

  • Skipper Mithali Raj scripted a new chapter in the history of Indian women cricket as she became the country’s first and second in order to reach the 5000-run milestone in one-day internationals.

IDBI refinance signs agreement with Bank Mudra

  • Said state-run IDBI Bank today it has signed an agreement with Mudra Bank for refinancing of loans to small businesses.
  • Under the agreement, the Bank will provide credit facilities up to Rs 10 lakh for micro-enterprises, at competitive interest rates under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) and Mudra will provide refinance assistance bank for cases of eligible loan sanctioned.
  • The refinancing plan will be implemented by all branches of the lender.
  • Last week, the Bank of Maharashtra had also signed an agreement with the Mudra Bank for refinancing loans to new entrepreneurs and small businesses.

China has appointed Jin Liqun, former Chinese Minister of Finance, to the position of President AIIB

  • Former Minister of Finance of China Jin Liqun was in the news that July 6, 2015 he was appointed by China to be the first president of the Beijing-backed Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
  • Currently, Jin (65) is general secretary AIIB interim secretariat. Previously, he held positions at the World Bank and was the first Chinese national to serve as a vice president at the Bank of Japan controlled Asian Development (ADB).
  • Before joining AIIB in 2014, Jin was president of the China International Capital Corporation, one of the largest investment banks in mainland China. He holds an MA in English Literature from the University of Beijing Foreign Studies and was a Hubert Humphrey Fellow in the Graduate Program in Economics from Boston University.
  • Nominations for the post of President may be submitted by regional members before 31 July 2015 and the name of the president-elect will be finalized at the meeting of chief negotiators 6th founding member AIIb in August 2015.


Renowned Urdu novelist Abdullah Hussain died

  • Renowned Urdu novelist Pakistan Abdullah Hussain died July 4, 2015 Lahore after battling blood cancer. He was 84.He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
  • He is the author of best-selling and critically acclaimed novel Udas Naslain, it is considered a masterpiece of Urdu literature. His other famous novels are Baagh, Nadaar LOAG and short stories and Faraib Nashaib. Hussain also received Lifetime Achievement Award of the Prime Minister in 2015 for his work.
  • Hussai Mohammad Khan was born as August 14, 1931 in Gujrat, Punjab province of Pakistan. He studied and graduated from College of Zameendar Pakistan.
